new curtains for the kitchen!

Hello! I'm so glad you've come to spend part of your Boxing Day at my house!

I wanted to show you something...

I finished sewing a new set of curtains for the kitchen before Christmas. I have to say, even though they are very simple panels and tie backs they have made the kitchen look so cozy.

There was just enough fabric left over to sew a mini valence to add to the window over the sink.

The kitchen looks almost complete now; Renoman's cupboards need to be painted and we still need doors.

But, after 6 years living without them the openness has really grown on me. We're in no hurry.

It's very farmhouse.  J

The fabric is an unbleached cotton Jacquard. If you look closely when the afternoon sun peeks in that window you can see the intricate weave. It reminds me of cross stitch.

Beautiful!

Until next time!

  2. Dear Mom,

Those curtains are beautiful. Our windows just have ugly plastic blinds. And my birthday is coming up in a few months . . . :D

    Love,

    Paige

  4. How beautiful! I really love their simplicity and I love the tie backs. We just have blinds on our windows, but I'd love to add curtains one day. They make the room feel so cozy!

    1. Thank-you! They really make a difference in the room making the windows look softer and more finished. Yes, I would agree with the term cozy.

  5. Welcome back, my dear flower friend. I missed your lovely blogs. Great photos of beautiful curtains. I am so privileged to feel them and see them in real life. And to give the lovely seamstress a big hug. I also have those ugly blinds at my windows. Need expert advice :)

  6. Debby has left a new comment on your post "new curtains for the kitchen!":
Debby left a comment which I accedentally removed...

"They look really nice. We hardly have an curtains. It's kinda weird I guess but the way our house sits we don't have to worry that much about privacy.

    Happy Boxing Day."

    1. One more pair needed in the pantry and it will be 'curtains' to sewing for the first floor ;-)

Happy Boxing Day to you, too, Debby!

  7. I thought I left a comment. Curtains can make a room looked finished and warm. Of course, some people don't like curtains. Those are pretty curtains.

    1. I guess I'm one who likes the look of curtains. One of my friends does not. You are right, they aren't for everyone.

    2. I do too. But, it sounded like I was saying a room was unfinished or looked unfinished without curtains. Curtains soften a room. Besides, I don't care if I lived 200 miles from civilization, I would need curtains to feel secure and safe.
